One more week.
Today is January 12. It has been 12 days since the new year and already many changes have occurred in my life. First of all, I was forced to leave my sick Job in the Manhattanville College athletic department after I came back from the break because they had cut my salary by more than half. They had no explanation. They just put a new contract in front of me and told me to sign. It was amusing how nonchalantly they did they as they expected me just to take it and not give them any shit.
However, I am not the type of person who will just stay at a job for the sake of staying at a job. Although this was in the realm of the industry I wish to pursue as a career, the fact of the matter is, I am moving to New York City and I CANNOT survive on $500 a month! So thank you Manhattanville, but there was no way that was going to fly.
In other news, I have gotten another job in security making some decent money. This is just a way to pay my rent and bills. In no way is this what I want to do with my life, but for the time being, I am excited to start. I move in one week. Having this job is better then having no job. And Ive noticed, and I dont mean this in any deep or philisophical way, that doors and opportunities DO open when you least expect it.
Also, I have been entirely smoke free in 2009. Coming from a heavily addicted almost 2 pack a day smoker who sincerely LOVES cigarettes, this is a victory. 12 days and going strong and I can see this being the time where I actually quit.
Like I said before, I move to the city in one week and I have not even begun to pack up. I have so much still to do and really no time to do it. I have to pack, rent a van, get all my stuff to my friends for the movers, train for my new job, prepare for a conference on next Tuesday, and start classes. There is defiantly more I just can’t think of it.
This blog will be updated more when I actually move into New York. It will be filled with all sorts of stories and adventures. From drinking to working, from sex to love, from couching it up to working out.
Everything is about to change, and I hope you are apart of it.
roxied out.
